SCOOBA — East Mississippi Community College's Lily Ramsey and Rylee Bourland have collected All-MACCC softball honors, as announced Monday by the Mississippi Association of Community Colleges Conference after being voted on by the MACCC's head softball coaches. Ramsey earned first-team honors and Bourland received honorable mention recognition.
Ramsey was among EMCC's leading hitters with a .337 batting average this past season as a 33-game starter behind the plate. Along with leading the Lady Lions with 34 hits, including eight doubles to tie for the team lead, the West Lauderdale High School product also totaled 20 runs scored, 12 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and 10 walks as the team's primary leadoff hitter. Defensively as a catcher, Ramsey threw out nine would-be base stealers on the season.
In the circle, Bourland was EMCC's top pitcher this past year with a 5-10 record and seven complete games in 16 starting assignments. At the plate, she tied for the team lead with four home runs on the year.
A product of Hatley High School, Bourland's highlight performance as a college player came during EMCC's doubleheader split at Southwest Mississippi this past season when she hit the first two home runs of her collegiate career – one in each game – and then threw a complete-game five-hitter in the nightcap to pick up her first pitching victory as well.
