Fresh off the Lions claiming their first MACJC North Division men’s title since the 2012-13 season, the East Mississippi Community College basketball teams will jointly participate in next week’s MACJC State Basketball Tournament in Ellisville.  Women’s play begins Monday and men’s action starts Tuesday at A.B. Howard Gymnasium on the Jones College campus.

The East Mississippi Community College basketball teams registered their fifth consecutive doubleheader sweep in MACJC North Division play by knocking off the Itawamba men’s and women’s teams during Monday’s ‘Sophomore Night’ twin bill at Keyes T. Currie Coliseum.  The Lady Lions snapped ICC’s 16-game win streak by holding on for a 56-54 victory over the ICC women, while the Lions gained sole possession of first place in the division standings with a 63-51 nightcap triumph over the Indians.

The Lions will play host to the Jackson-based Royal Ambassadors Prep team at 7 p.m. at EMCC’s Keyes T. Currie Coliseum, while the Lady Lions will travel to Monroeville, Ala., to take on Coastal Alabama CC-North at 5 p.m.
